chapel
When we went up to check out the chapel where my sister got married, there was a musical quartet getting ready to practice. They let me go in while the guitarist was warming up to take a picture. It was dim in there in spite of the stained glass windows so I set the ISO higher than I like and things got a little noisy.
classroom
Whee! Today my family went to brunch – my parents, my sister and I, and our families. We went to Nazareth Hall, which used to be a school and is now used for weddings and events. The building is interesting inside and out. After eating, everyone humored me by wandering around so I could take pictures, which I’ll be posting over the next few days.
the canal and the mill
Took a ride to Grand Rapids with the kids and gramma to ride the canal boat at Providence Metropark. The sky turned out to be too burned out to make for good pictures. I tried to fix it and ended up making it worse. Otherwise the picture (and the afternoon out) was excellent! After the boat ride, we headed to LaRoe’s.

It was a terrific day for people watching, as there was a ton of activity in town. There was a motorcycle group that was moving through the area and the fisherpeople out for the Walleye run. I wondered if this person was just watching people go by or if he was waiting for a shopper.

Last year, Dave and Meredith rented a kayak from here and took a ride downstream. This place is called River Lures and they will rent them for about $20 per person. The stacks of boats are so colorful!

Some guys right next to the dam outside of Grand Rapids, OH catching a fish. I was too slow to get a picture when they held it up, but is was huge – looked at least 14 inches. They showed it off, then released it.
Right now the Walleye Run is on, which always brings thousands of fishermen and women from all over to our section of the Maumee River. It was a bit quieter in Grand Rapids than in Maumee, but there were still plenty of people out with their poles.
